IS RF FRACTIONAL RESURFACING TREATMENT GOOD FOR ACNE SCARS?

RF fractional resurfacing is an excellent solution for different types of acne scarring, including rolling, atrophic, and boxcar scars. Usually, multiple treatments will be required to see a dramatic improvement in the appearance and texture of your skin. PREPARING FOR YOUR PROCEDURE

You can enhance the results of your fractional resurfacing treatment by preparing your skin in the lead-up to the procedure. Keep your skin healthy and hydrated by using a professional range of skincare products, such as our exclusive D’Lumiere Esthetique. It is recommended that you incorporate a vitamin C serum into your routine for at least 2 weeks prior to the treatment to ensure an even skin tone is achieved.

It’s also important that you avoid too much sun exposure, as well as tanning beds, and use a broad spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher for 4 weeks prior to the session. Avoid chemical peels and other deep facial treatments. If you have a history of herpes in the treated area, such as cold sores, let your know for further advice on how to use antiviral medication during treatments.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR TREATMENT

RF fractional resurfacing is a generally fast procedure with minimal discomfort. The practitioner will run the Accent Prime over the treatment area to repair the damaged skin and stimulate the production of new collagen and cell growth. After the procedure has finished, a healing cream may be applied to soothe the redness and assist in the healing process. There is some minimal downtime, including erythema, sensitivity and some slight crusting post treatment.  Your therapist will go over all aftercare during your consultation.

Does it hurt + are there any side effects?

You will experience some mild discomfort during this treatment. Post treatment, your skin will feel very hot, like a sunburn, and will be flushed in appearance which can last for several hours. Depending on the intensity of the treatment you may experience redness and crusting of the treated area for the following 3-7 days.
