Leg Veins

What is Leg Vein Removal?

Leg veins can cause us to become self-conscious and can present in Superficial, small veins; pink to purple in colour.

At our Skin Clinics we have the luxury of having both the 523nm and 1064nm laser to treat both the red (“telangiectasia”) spider veins and also the green (“reticular”) veins. This laser does not treat Varicose veins, they usually require surgery and are not appropriate for laser therapy.

How Does it work?

The laser works by delivering a very fine focused beam of light that is absorbed by haemoglobin in the veins and the heat produced causes photocoagulation. This results in these blood cells becoming hot and creating a clotting effect, which collapses or closes the vein, while causing no surrounding tissue damage. The body will then slowly remove the collapsed veins during the skin’s natural healing response resulting in the reduction of veins and redness.
